Itty Bitty Buggy is Microduino’s newest STEM educational toy that has endless design possibilities and exciting configurations.
The Itty Bitty Buggy kit comes with a base Buggy plus four opportunities to build a sloth, a ladybug, a dodo bird and an alien.

Itty Bitty Buggy is a code programmable toy (CPT). A user can add remote control functions, color recognition ability and voice control.
All of Microduino’s STEM toys are LEGO compatible, too, so the possibilities for creating something extremely unique with Itty Bitty Buggy is a within reach of every child with an imagination.
Itty Bitty Buggy is controllable via Bluetooth using your Android or iOS device.
Your Buggy will follow a line map which you can draw. It will make its journey along the lines. Change the lines and your Buggy changes its direction, too!
Voice control allows you to talk to your Buggy and tell it what to do.
Your Buggy will recognize colors too! Every color represents a musical note, so you can also create a beautiful musical world.
Itty Bitty Buggy is fun to build! The programming is easy to understand so even beginners and those new to the maker world can create their very own Itty Bitty Buggy.
With programming instructions included, creating an Itty Bitty Buggy teaches kids the logic behind the function while they are building and playing. The end result is two-fold:
- Learn how to build a versatile, exciting toy that can perform many functions.
- Use and apply logic, and problem solving.
The programming skills they learn are mDesigner (based on Scratch), Python, and Arduino (C++).
Itty Bitty Buggy is truly an educational toy that lowers the barriers to STEM education.
mCookie series stackable modules can be programmed using drag-and-drop coding using mDesigner. mDesigner is based on MIT’s Scratch 3.
Users will be immediately familiar with the standard Scratch interface, but with added support to control and interact with our mCookie modules. This method is great for beginners learning to code.
mDesigner also provides the option of programming with Python.
mCookie series modules can be programmed in the traditional text based coding using the Arduino IDE with added Microduino support. This method allows the user to access the full potential of the modules.
A mobile vehicle controllable over Bluetooth with the smartphone app. The Buggy has 3 different modes:
- Remote control mode – manually control Buggy from the app.
- Line following mode – Buggy automatically follows along a black line. Use the included map or draw your own!
- Music mode – Buggy detects colors along it’s path and plays different notes accordingly.
Sloth is the climbing form of Itty Bitty Buggy. It is capable of traversing objects such as shower curtain rods or even a length of string.
This Itty Bitty Buggy form is capable of walking and resembles a lady bug. It shares a common ability with Buggy in that it can follow lines from the track we provide, or draw your own. As with all the other projects, Itty Bitty Buggy is controllable with the app.
An interesting curiosity — the Dodo bird is a flightless bird which has gone extinct. Re-animate the Dodo with this form of Itty Bitty Buggy and watch its hilarious wing flapping motions!
It is unknown whether or not extraterrestrial aliens truly exist. But with this form, Itty Bitty Buggy takes on the appearance of a bipedal alien. Don’t be afraid as you are in control of the Alien with your smartphone/tablet app!
