Microduino MIX kits are an invaluable tool for developing critical thinking, problem solving skills and encouraging creativity. All of which are important in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Students will practice logical thinking, learn about electronics and practice drag-and-drop coding using mDesigner based on Scratch 3. The first kit in the series is designed for and provides an introduction for beginners without a background of programming or electronics. Subsequent kits in the series build upon this knowledge to cover more advanced topics.
Each kit contains 12 projects to complete. Projects are presented as a problem to be solved. Planning before doing is important. Students are asked to think of a solution to the problem, determine the resources needed, determine the logic for the solution and then create a flowchart diagram. Finally, students will translate their flowchart into working code.
Electronic devices are an important aspect of our everyday lives and will even be more important in the future. Microduino’s mCookie series modules provides a starting place to learn about common electronic components with simple snap together connectivity. No soldering required! Hands-on use of physical components increases student engagement.
